An opportunity has arisen to join an international, premium retail brand for a Senior Merchandiser with experience of international merchandising, preferably within the EMEA markets.

This position has oversight of all technical and procedural aspects of merchandise planning functions, including but not limited to: LFL planning, pre-season and in season planning, product analysis, improving forecast accuracy mix, assortment planning, identifying product needs and promotional analysis.

This opportunity will involve regular overseas travel and the ideal candidate will be working closely with the Merchandising Director to deliver business initiatives for the region as well as training and coaching on best practice.  
Main responsibilities will include: 

  • Work with the EMEA Merchandise function with focus on analysing product sales & trends to improve business metrics 
  • Promotions – track the success of promotions to help build stronger promotions in the future
    Tracking of best and worst performing sku’s across all product categories and type
  • Coordinate a seamless relationship with all cluster offices in regards to developing product level forecasts, actively participate and support S&OP process
  • Direct the development of pre-season sales and gross margin that support product strategies. Ensure reconciliation of top-down to bottom-up plans
  • Analyse historical data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities to business and recommend strategies to achieve financial goals
  • Recap and analyse actual product results to plan and forecast in-season sales monthly, quarterly and ad hoc basis
  • Analyse financial performance to pre-season strategies and recommend strategic shifts as required
  • Ensure regions collection structure and regional assortment are consistent with budget 
  • Attend monthly demand planning and merchandise planning calls ensuring notes are followed up and actioned and forecast accuracy is improved
  • Carry out market visits in EMEA to train and influence one way of working
  • Overseeing the EMEA critical path calendar
  • Reviewing competitor’s product quarterly to monitor trends

Person requirements:

  • A solid background in retail merchandising with blue chip retailers
  • Experience in EMEA or other international markets
  • Strong excel skills including proficiency using pivot tables
  • Able to travel when required
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • You must possess proven strategic, analytical and implementation skills
  • Excellent broad-based business thinker who can collaborate effectively with peers and executive functional and senior business line leaders
  • Ability to analyse, present & communicate information  that allows informed decision-making
