Our client continues to successfully grow their business and a recent initiative is to open their own dedicated Watch repair and servicing workshop. Excitingly this is predominantly to give ever more comprehensive brand representation of one specific Luxury Watchmaking marque although over time this may expand to encompass additionally worthy industry names.

The search though has now begun to identify their first talented Watchmaking team member of which several further appointments will follow once all is finally open later in 2022.

Job Role:
As this is an evolving remit with the business’s own workshop still being carefully constructed, the client is looking to recruit ahead of need to ensure that smoothness of workshop opening is the future goal.

This client is proposing a multi-dimensional trade induction to give this future watchmaker best and most complete trade understanding in readiness for their future bench role. It could be that for a day a week you could be taking advantage of some unique brand online training tutorials which will be available for our client to access on your behalf.

For two days you could be placed within a colleague Jewellers workshop carrying out repairs and servicing to enhance your familiarity with tooling, best bench practices with the real value being increasing your dexterity and day-to-day watchmaking understanding so that in the future any bench review will show you in your best possible craftmanship light.

The final element to your week would be to be in-store residence being client facing understanding the repairs and aftersales booking-in processes that do call for scrutiny and a horological enquiring insight to ensure service/restoration work required are customer understood enabling best speed of service with minimum need to recall or propose additional estimates.

Once you have completed this comprehensive company induction and been brand approved a further training and a brand accreditation pathway will commence to coincide with the opening of this new watchmaker’s suite which will be equipped and tooled to a point of industry perfection.

It is anticipated that steadily going forwards there would be access for this appointee to re-submit themselves for periodic review and training. Over time accreditation matched by your breadth of capability will simply reach towards ever greater complication and intervention all permitted to be undertaken by this one Luxury Swiss Watch House.

Requirements:

• Ideally for our client we are searching for a career dedicated Watchmaker who will have already perhaps graduated in the world of Horology and gained the necessary BA Hons / WOSTEP / BRITISH HOROLOGICAL INSTITUTE qualifications.

• The theoretical understanding of watchmaking is as important as your practical skills, and it may be that you have already been able to work at the bench servicing and repairing various luxury watch brands.

• Within the selection process it will be the case that you would be invited to sit a ‘bench test‘ which will be run by a third-party brand owner. The result of which will determine current capability and future level of bench work that initially you would be employed and certified to carry out.
