Full Time Retail Sales Consultant

Paul James Jewellers is an independent retailer conveniently located under 10 minutes from junction 6 of the M25 and 30/40 minutes by train from London Bridge or Victoria BR stations. We attract clients from a wide area who visit us for our collection of new and pre-owned fine jewellery and watches, coupled with our expertise and first class customer service. The store was recently refurbished and would not be out of place in Central London.

In addition to sales of jewellery and watches, we offer a range of services including valuations, repairs and bespoke jewellery design.

Job Role

To demonstrate excellent product and service knowledge.

To contribute significantly to collective targets through the ability to achieve sales of product and services.

To be responsible for the customer journey, from meet and greet through to providing expert advice, closing sales and offering after sales service.

Whilst we rarely have complaints, inevitably there will be occasions when a product or service fails to meet the standard that we or our customers expect. Therefore, you must have the ability to handle complaints tactfully and effectively.

The job role is varied and regardless of seniority the job holder will be expected to undertake a range of duties alongside other staff. This includes dressing windows, administrative duties, ordering stock and booking in repairs, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the store.

Subject to your area of expertise and experience, you may also get involved in the purchase of gold and pre-owned jewellery and watches. 

You will be required to work on a Saturday with a day off in the week.


Above all you must have the ability to close a sale though a sensitive and consultative sales approach.

We are looking for an individual who will add expertise and experience to our highly valued team. 

Many of our clients have become friends and we have a very high level of repeat business, so the ability to develop and maintain relationships is very important.

You will be smartly dressed, have energy and enthusiasm, an eye for detail and will provide an individual experience to all of our clients.

Honesty, integrity and confidentiality are critical in this role.

We are a small but supportive team and you must be a team player.

You will have an eye for detail, you must be numerate and be an effective communicator.

You must have experience of working with luxury goods or services and a preference will be given to any candidate who has relevant experience gained in the jewellery industry. Ideally you will have a JET qualification however, do not underestimate the importance of having the range of qualities outlined above.
