Gatwards is the oldest family jewellers in the United Kingdom. When first the founder James Gatward opened his doors as a watch and clock maker, King George II was still on the throne. Today in 2021, Gatwards is in its 8th generation of same family ownership – though the emphasis of trading has moved from clocks towards fine diamonds and beautiful coloured gemstone jewellery.
This year, this business won Lloyds Bank ‘Small Business of the Year’ and ‘Family Business of the Year’ from Hertfordshire’s Chamber of Commerce; both in recognition of how they steered their business successfully through lockdown. Additionally, last year this business celebrated being winners of the ‘Family Business of the Year’ together with a family member collecting a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award‘ for sixty years’ service.
Job Role:
There is today a superb opportunity to join the sales floor team as a valued Sales Consultant. Delivering best customer experience genuinely excites you and you are rightly motivated by becoming, over time, a go-to counter staff contact that in future return purchasing trips further faith can be bestowed upon. Pride in ensuring that our client’s showroom ever gleams, and all stock is presented in the best possible presentation light at all times - there is never not a productive moment when in-store.
Once fully inducted in both the stores everyday protocols and familiar with all areas of merchandise and services that are ready for customer purchasing, you will be encouraged to continue to industry learn, qualify, and train.
The Jewellery trade has a fantastic future outlook with many areas of potential job role extension that a ‘best seller’ (perhaps like yourself?) could then evolve to take on ever greater industry challenge.
Requirements:
-
It would be a definite advantage if already you are a proven salesperson, preferably already knowledgeable and at ease in selling fine jewellery & watches.
-
Training accreditations you may well possess might be JET 1 (Jewellery Education Trust) or JET 2, though experience of selling luxury goods from a different market sphere wouldn’t be ruled out.
-
Importantly you need to be articulate – enjoy presenting stylish merchandise and have a passion to learn in depth all that surrounds this very special retail marketplace.
-
Individual self- confidence needs to be high, matched with a careful sensibility when handling valuable products to ensure all is kept safe and ever pristine.
